New Business- N.R.A. Requirements Bill Folk discussed the possibility of getting more grants if all the Gun Club members were also National Rifle Association members. The annual costs per membership could be reduced and therefore we may get more members. Ken Skoglund made a motion to make it mandatory to have all gun club members also be N .R.A. members. John Baker seconded. A discussion ensued as to weather we would lose some members and if the lost members would be worth the amount of grant money we would get. All attending agreed that the grant money would be worth it and the motion passed 21 ayes and 1 opposed. N.R.A. membership will be required for every member as they renew their 2010 membership. The bylaws will be amended to reflect this. Election of officers Bill Folk asked if their were any nominations for officers for 2010. All current officers agreed to stay on another year and it was put to vote. Martin McCaulay made a motion to keep the current officers for 2010, Ken Skoglund seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
Cell Tower- Cell Tower plans were discussed. Still in planning mode not a done deal as of this meeting. The KCR&GC officers have given the BGPOA a list of what we want. See enclosed list- A. The tower company will rent out space on the tower for A.T&T, Verizon and Alltel. Bill Folk, who is also a POA Board member, said the POA wanted to do a phone survey and see what the local people want. Then we negotiate with the POA. The last meeting was held at the Gun Range and officers met with cell tower construction manager and the surveyor. The best position for the tower was the south east corner of the range. Dave Chubirka made a motion to approve the Cell Tower on the gun range. Ken Skoglund seconded. Steve Winn asked if we could also include in the motion to empower a negotiating team to go to POA meetings and negotiate with the POA on the tower. Mary Skoglund, Dave Chubirka and Bill Folk volunteered. Dave Chubirka changed his motion to accept the tower on gun range and to empower a negotiating committee to include, Bill Folk, Mary Skoglund and himself, to go to POA meetings to negotiate for the cell tower. Ken Skoglund seconded, motion passed. Unanimously. Bill Folk said he would have Shauna, the POA secretary, email us with any meetings having to do with the cell tower.
Comments from members- Steve Winn wanted to give Kudos to Bill Folk for organizing the Youth shoot and what it accomplished for our club. President’s comments- Ivan Lakish was the top shooter at the Pumpkin shoot held last October. The second place winners were Steve Winn in the scoped rifle, Keith Davies in the open sites rifle. Third place competitors were Andrew Slivka and Bill Folk. Second and third place winners graciously donated their winnings back to the club. Youth Shoot was a success because of member participation as instructors and coaches for the young shooters. Pictures and story from the summer youth firearms training program was published in the NRA Club Connection magazine. Vol 14, No.4, page 19. Also available online at http:/www.nrahq.org/clubs/connection.asp Your club Board of Directors’ goal for 2010 is, to involve the club members more with schools and youth groups for competition shoots and shooting/ safety classes.
